About the project
Adventuroads is an interactive adventure route mapping platform for motorcycle riders in Australia, allowing them to discover unsealed dirt roads and trails, export colour-coded GPX routes to any GPS device, and connect with a community of fellow explorers contributing real-time road updates.
Project Overview
The platform consolidates Australia's adventure riding route data into a single interactive map, colour-coded by surface type, sortable on multiple formats, and enriched by a community of riders sharing closures, highlights, fuel stops, and local tips.
Project Goal
The goal of the project was to solve a real rider problem: there was no single source of truth for off-road routes and adventure trails in Australia. The product needed to serve both a map-first experience and a data-driven route management system, while allowing community members to contribute, maintain, and annotate route details in real time.
Solution
We built a route mapping platform with an interactive map layer and route management backend. The solution combines GPX/GPS data processing, map tile rendering, custom route annotations, and a community-driven contribution system. It gives riders a real-time, crowd-sourced view of trail conditions and points of interest, accessible on any device.

Colour-Coded Interactive Map — routes are visually categorized by surface type (gravel, dirt, sealed) to make quick visual decisions possible on a ride plan.
Multi-format Sort & GPX Export — users can filter routes by surface, region, length, or type, and download them in GPX format for offline GPS use.
Community Ratings & Points System — riders can submit local tips, fuel stops, closures, and highlights, earning reputation points for quality contributions.
Real-Time Road Updates — community-sourced alerts about track conditions, closures, and hazards keep route data accurate and up to date.
